Author of 'Byline for the Dead', 'They Tried to Warn Us' and ‘Digital Disruption & Transformation: Lessons from History', I'm a PhD-qualified expert in digital marketing, content strategy, content marketing and innovative content creation.
My consulting expertise is informed by a career as a journalist, digital marketing manager, editor, publisher, content marketer and creator, strategy consultant and writer. I also teach digital marketing, consumer behaviour, public relations, social media, creative advertising, media/marketing convergence, strategic communications, global marketing and decision-making to undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA students at several Australian universities.
I've earned a BSJ from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in Chicago, an MA in mass communication from Macquarie University and a PhD in marketing and management from the University of Sydney. My research focuses on website success measures, social media and ethics and I co-wrote an article that discusses the Kardashians and other influencers for the journal Celebrity Studies, which has become the most-read and most-cited article in the journal’s history (No doubt all because of the robust research and nothing to do with the topic!)
As well as the above-mentioned books, I'm also a contributing author to Teach Advertising and Marketing With a Sense of Humour, published in 2021, and host of the Clear as Mud podcast, which was launched in 2022, and They Tried to Warn Us, launched in 2025.
